Happy New Year!
Happy New Year everyone! It's 2017, and that means a whole new year to look forward to. I'm sure 2017 will be a great year for the organ donation community.
A Remarkable Story
This story has been going around the organ donation community recently, and for good reason! A woman in Toronto survived without lungs for 6 days! According to the article linked below, she was in the ICU for cystic fibrosis, and there wasn't much time left, so they just decided to remove her lungs, put her on a ventilator, and wait for a lung transplant. Medical technology has improved so much in recent decades, it's amazing!
A Math Problem!
So I was doing by math homework, and I saw a question about organ transplants! I thought it was pretty cool, so here it is! See if you can figure it out!
Find A: The probability that the patient survives:
B: The probability that a suitable transplant is found and the patient survives:
C: The probability that a suitable transplant was found given the patient survived
