Governor's Service Award Recognition, and in the Troy Times!
Hey everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the beginning of the new school year. It was definitely pretty strange as I realized that this was my last first day of high school–time has really gone by so quickly!
However, I'm looking forward to senior year and what it will bring. Anyway, let's get right into it.
The Governor's Service Awards
I'm happy to share that I have been recognized as Youth Volunteer of the Year by the Michigan Community Service Commission as part of the Governor's Service Awards! The awards ceremony is September 5th, and I'll be sure to share pictures from that event next month–especially because I will be able to meet Governor Whitmer.
I'm truly excited that Gift8Lives has been receiving recognition on such a large scale–and this motivates me to spread the message of organ donation even further and to a wider audience. I'm looking to do this through the Gift8Lives club's second year–we have many more members, and already have quite a few activities planned for the 2019-2020 school year.

Making the Front Page of the Troy Times!
Because of the award, I also had the amazing opportunity to be featured in that week's Troy Times–Troy's most-read newspaper. I'd like to extend my thanks to Mrs. Oparka, for calling me and interviewing me for the story itself. The other recipient from Troy is featured first, so scroll down a little bit until you get to my part of the story!

That's it for this month! Thank you all for reading, and I'll see you at the next blog post.
