Ceremony at the Gov. Service Awards and SOS Appreciation Week!

The Ceremony on September 5th

Gift8Lives.org has truly been a passion of mine from when I started it back in 2016. The volunteer experiences with organ donation have been deeply rewarding–and that is why I am honored to have won Youth Volunteer of the Year for the 2019 Governor's Service Awards - Detroit Opera House!

It was also amazing to meet and talk about Gift8Lives with Governor Gretchen Whitmer. I appreciate her investment in Michigan's volunteers and the Michigan Community Service Commission!

A huge thank you to Mrs. Kim Zasa for nominating me, and my teacher Ms. Anne Costello–for supporting me every step of the way. I'd also like to thank my Troy High Principal Mr. Roncone, Mr. Ali-Ahmed, and MOTTEP Director Ms. Remonia Chapman for attending the event and seeing me receive this honor! Lastly, thank you to my friends and family for their continued support.

National Secretary of State Appreciation Week

The Secretary of State branch offices play an important role in signing up new patrons on the donor registry. This is because they ask customers daily: “Would you like to be registered on the Michigan organ donor registry?” To thank them for their efforts in saving lives, September 23rd-27th was designated as National Secretary of State Appreciation Week. My sister and I each created a short video thanking these branch workers. Gift of Life took all of these videos and put them together, so here is the link below for you to see!

That's it for this month! Thank you for reading, and I hope to see you next time.
