GOLM's Youth Event, and a Thanksgiving Donation

Hey everyone, I hope you're doing well! It's been a busy past few months, so I apologize for not updating my blog sooner! As the semester ends and final exams approach, TCNJ's workload has definitely increased :)

Regardless, let's get into this month's blog post!

Living Differently - A Youth Perspective of Transplants

Just yesterday, Gift of Life Michigan hosted a discussion with youth transplant recipients about what it's like to receive a life-saving organ transplant at a young age and how it has shaped their viewpoint. Srishti moderated the discussion, and it truly provided me with an eye-opening perspective on the tough journey of transplantation. It was also nice to hear how Gift of Life supported each of these individuals throughout their process. If you'd like to watch the full thing (which I highly recommend), here is a Youtube link to it!

A Thanksgiving Miracle

Gift of Life Michigan shared a very powerful story a few days ago about Rachel, who suddenly fell very sick and was placed on the heart transplant list. Fortunately, she received her heart transplant on Thanksgiving, which was great to hear. See the video linked below for the full story, it's a true testament to the need for widespread organ donation awareness to sign others up.

That's it for this month! It's difficult to be active in the organ donation community amongst COVID-19, and I truly miss being able to attend in-person volunteer opportunities and events. However, I know we'll get through this together soon enough. I've been keeping up my advocacy virtually, and I hope you all will too.

Anyway, thank you all so much for reading and see you next time.
